Four illegal workers have been caught following UKBA’s raid at Wildwood restaurant in St Peter’s Street, Canterbury.

Acting on intelligence received, UKBA officers visited the restaurant on Wednesday 5 June. They checked the immigration status of staff and arrested 2 men who were in possession of counterfeit Italian identity documents.

Following a house search in Pretoria Road, UKBA officers also arrested 2 other men who admitted using counterfeit documents to obtain work at Wildwood.

The 4 from Romania, and aged 24, 27, 28, and 29, later received cautions for using the counterfeit documents.

Louise Whiteoak, Immigration Enforcement team in Kent, Home Office said:

‘We are determined to stamp out abuse of the immigration system.

‘We want the public to contact us if they have any information on people or businesses which are breaking immigration law.’

The Home Office provides support to employers so they can understand the rules, including visits by staff, a dedicated telephone helpline and website.
