Six immigration offenders have been arrested following a raid UKBA officers on a technology company in Forest Gate.

Acting on intelligence, officers visited Ishine (Gul Traders Limited) on Westbury Road, at 15:30 on Tuesday 25 June. Individuals were questioned to check if they had the right to be in the UK.

They arrested 6 men for overstaying their visas. These included Pakistani nationals aged 22, 24 and 29 and Indian nationals aged 27, 29 and 37.

The Pakistanis and 27-year-old Indian have been detained pending removal from the UK. The others were placed on immigration bail while steps are taken to remove them.

The business was served with a notice warning that a civil penalty of up to £10,000 per illegal worker will be imposed unless proof is provided that the correct right-to-work checks were carried out. This is a potential fine of £60,000.

ukbaaaClaire Shacklock, head, Immigration Enforcement team, East London said:

‘We are out almost every day in London, working hard to track down and remove from the country those who seek to abuse the UK’s immigration laws.

‘While we are happy to work with businesses to let them know what checks need to be done on staff, those who do break the law should know that we are out there looking for them and they will face heavy fines.

‘I would urge members of the public with information about suspected immigration abuse to get in touch.’
