Is This an Attempt to Deport a Vital Witness?

Sunny Idika escaped removal this Monday, 26 April. Sunny was one of the detainees who was moved to prison after protesting the death of Eliud Nguli Nyenze, a fellow detainee. They believe the death could have been prevented, if medical treatment had not been withheld.

Cambridge Migrant Solidarity have been supporting Sunny, and organised a protest at Heathrow Airport on Monday. They strongly suspect that this rushed deportation is an attempt to quickly remove a potential witness in any inquiry into the death at Oakington.

Sunny was scheduled to be flown to Germany on British Airways. Upon arriving in Germany, it is very likely that he would have been deported to Nigeria.

Sunny is not yet out of danger of being deported and CMS continues to fight for a just inquiry into the death of Oakington detainee.
