New Country Guidance for Zimbabwe.

The Upper Tribunal has issued a new Country Guidance determination, which paves the pay for the government to start deporting some of the thousands of Zimbawean refused asylum seekers from the UK.

This guidance comes just days after a House of Lords debate highlighted increasing political violence and human rights abuses in Zimbabwe in advance of upcoming elections, and recent Human Rights Watch report revealing that little has changed in that respect since the violence at the last elections.

The Tribunal emphasised that their guidance may need to be departed from if conditions deteriorated in connection with the forthcoming elections but rejected the appellants’ case that the risks relating to the forthcoming elections were sufficiently real and foreseeable
