One week to go! Help Unite Against Fascism stop the BNP

·National day of action Sunday 2 May
Please help UAF to stop the BNP on the final weekend before polling day. Key target areas are Barking & Dagenham and Stoke on Trent. Please click here for details: www.uaf.org.uk. Activities will be taking place around the country, to get involved please email unite@ucu.org.uk or phone 020 7801 2782.·
UAF held another successful day of action on Sunday 25 April
Over 200 people attended the UAF Day of Action in Barking & Dagenham on 25 April.  Trade unionists, students, locals and other anti-fascists gave out tens of thousands of leaflets in four wards where the Nazi BNP are hoping to win the majority of councillors.  Canvassing response remains mainly positive – despite BNP activists out on the same day trying their best to stoke up divisions. There is definitely an anti-BNP vote in Barking & Dagenham that we need to get out on 6 May.

·Pull the plug on the fascist BNP
Over 60 people attended the protest supported by BECTU, outside the BBC against the BNP’s party election broadcast in England on Monday 26 April. Speakers at the event included Billy Hayes CWU General Secretary, Danacha De Long NUJ Vice President & Expose – the new media campaign against the BNP, Bell Riberio-Addy NUS BLAck Students Officer and Daf Adley NUS LGBT Officer.  The event was widely covered in the press, see links below:

The BBC is continuing to give the BNP a platform, without robustly challenging and exposing it. BNP leader Nick Griffin was on Radio 4’s Today programme this morning (again) and interviewed by Jeremy Paxman on a special edition of Newsnight last Saturday 24 April.
