Temporary suspension of online appointment system in Kosovo and changes to the handling of UK visa applications

from UKBA
At present, UK visa applications submitted in Pristina are processed at the UK Border Agency regional hub at Skopje. However, from 14 November 2011 these applications will be decided upon at the UK Border Agency regional hub for Central and Eastern Europe at the British Embassy in Warsaw.

In order to effectively implement this change, the on-line appointment system for applicants in Kosovo has been temporarily suspended. As a result, there are currently no appointments available for applicants in Kosovo. However, we are taking steps to re-open application slots from 27 October to 9 November. There will be no appointments available between 10 and 13 November. Full appointments from 14 November will be available on our online system from 10 November. We apologise for any inconvenience and would ask applicants to check availability on a regular basis.

The visa application process in Pristina will not change. Applicants will continue to make their applications on-line through the visa4UK website and book an appointment at the UK Border Agency visa office at the British Embassy in Pristina to submit their application form, passport and supporting documents, provide their biometrics and pay the visa fee.

Applications, passports and documents will then be taken securely by courier to Warsaw, where a decision on the application will be made. Passports and documents will then be securely couriered back to our office in Pristina, from where they can be collected.

There will be no additional cost to applicants and processing target times remain unchanged. We aim to process most non-settlement applications within 15 working days of submission in Pristina. This is in line with our published customer service standards.

These changes are part of a worldwide UK Border Agency programme to provide applicants with a more effective and flexible visa service with more consistent customer standards and decision quality and better resilience during peak periods.
