An independent, crowd-funded initiative to produce a feature-length film making the case for Brexit has won support from both the grassroots Leave.EU campaign and senior figures in the rival Vote Leave organisation, including Lord Lawson, Daniel Hannan and Douglas Carswell.

brexit movieBrexit The Movie will be produced by the award-winning documentary filmmaker Martin Durkin – if he can raise £100,000 for it on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter.  The project broke through the £30,000 mark last night, but only has until the beginning of March to raise the remaining sum.

“Grassroots activists have been crying out for the Leave campaigns to put aside their differences and come together for weeks,” said Leave.EU spokesman Jack Montgomery. “Real progress has been made on our side, with Leave.EU doing everything it can to support Grassroots Out! as a unifying initiative, but Martin Durkin has achieved something really significant in winning support from us, from UKIP and from the leadership of the embattled Vote Leave group, too.”

“Ultimately, we’re all working towards the same goal.  From our point of view, it’s absolutely fantastic to see that this breakthrough has been made not by the big personalities at the top of the competing Leave organisations, but by an independent, activist-led initiative which is willing to work with everyone and rightly concerned with putting the case for Brexit above all other considerations. The campaign to Leave really will be the people’s campaign.”
